Marion Maze was born and raised in the Green Swamp area of Central Florida. Always an artistic soul, she started drawing and painting when she was a toddler, watching her Mother paint with oils on canvas and create charcoal works of beauty. She loved watching Mom paint, almost as much as she loved watching Scooby-Doo monsters on TV. We have some evidence of her earliest drawings..on the family cedar chest, china cabinet, assorted antique books and other valuables. . .

In Elementary school, Mare was chosen out of 500 students to exhibit her Drawing “Over the Bridge” at a local art show, and as the youngest of the entrants, won 3rd place for the multi-school grade school Division. She also watched a lot of Creature Feature in these early years, and drew monsters on some jackets, her brother's math book and the backs of some of her mother's paintings. Her teen years were filled with playing the electric guitar, writing songs, poetry, and of course horror stories.

As an adult, she left the horror scene for a while, visited her friends “HorrorWench” and “Igor” at Horror-Web occasionally, and for the most part, worked as head veterinary technician/pet groomer/wildlife rehabilitater during the day..and night..some 50+ hours a week. She brought home animals from work to rehabilitate, nursed animals through the night and released healed wildlife during the day. Her favorite animals? The bats of course, and reptiles. A few wily squirrels also crept into her heart, before she released them, knowing full well that if a squirrel is old enough to chew through webcam wires, it is able to brave the great outdoors.

Mare lives with her husband of eighteen years, “Kaptnhowdy”. Her daughter, “DemonChilde”… and two huskies, one schipperke, 3 cats, 2 rats, 2 pythons, 2 bearded dragons, 1 spur-thigh tortoise, 1 western hognose “Puff Adder” Snake, 1 savannah monitor, 1 macaw, 6 chickens, 2 ducks and a betta fishie name “Lil Fish” Of course, Linda the DemonKid guards the home office along with her many brothers and sisters in progress, with the many-to-come in the studio. Don't mind the Ferocious Fae at the front herb garden’s pathway… They hover for their turn in the studio…

How it began

As she and her husband “Kaptnhowdy” started a collection of horror toys a bit before acquiring their first Hearse, the thought came; "Why not make my own horror toys that are NOT on the market?" The Living Dead Doll collection nodded a solemn ”yes“.

In February 2002, DemonKidz Dollworks began. By February 2003, DemonKidz were seen internationally and became a registered business entity sparking interest of a few more customizers as she helped build a few of their own projects for sale.

Mare's Personal Promises:

  • Only the best go out of these doors.
  • No skimping on design for the dollar.
  • No shortcuts.
  • No duplications.
  • and “Do unto Others…”

I love these dolls. I spend time with each one. Not one will ever go "Home" that doesn't have detailed coloring on each tiny toe, or the perfect coloring on the lips or that has not been inspected by myself for durability, interactive play and originality. Each doll is a reflection of myself, my name, and if I am not able to give each one the best details or personality, I am telling the world that "I", "Myself", am shortchanging not only the customer, but also myself. HUGE amounts of Pride go into each doll. So each doll has to be perfect in design, in creation, and in sturdiness. The Kidz may be a bona-fide business now, but the Pride and JOY in them still remains. Almost every dollar that I receive from one doll goes into the creation of the next few. I not only help support my family by making the Kidz, the Kidz support themselves. I LOVE making these guys. And when the day comes that no one needs one, I will continue making them for as long as I can. They are my habit, my vice.

“Just remember, dearies…they are NOT evil…they are just painted that way! Love & Strangles from the Studio,” Marion Maze a.k.a. MoMMaRabb

“Thank yous” and Stuff

I would like to thank everyone who has brought my attention to the works that now call me. My new small vinyl family. My lost wee spirits who make the light shine…my Lil' DemonKidz…

  • The Ol' Man KaptnHowdy, who helps me with the finding of “base” dollies who are seeking to be created into something more…and who scandalously allows me to use his ebay Id…and who deals with the cussing when I'm rooting hair, and lends me his pliars…the inspiration-giver…the late-night-rub-my-back-er, and, well, who kisses me lots…
  • The Folks at the MSN LDD groups and communities, who share tips, let me vent and rant and who generously give me someone to talk to late at night via the 'net.
  • The Boss, who gives me my paycheck at the end of the pay period, and who hasn't questioned too deeply the purple stained hands or the vinyl marks and paint drops on my scrubs.
  • Cousin Chris, who totally believes in the Kidz, MoMMa and the whole danged Demon family…and who stole Taboo from the dark recesses of boredom, and put him to work in her liquor cabinet…hehheh…
  • Dad, who continuously Searches for My Marbles
  • John & Kelley, who keep my tired bones stocked on caffeine and smokes
  • The Kidlet Demonchilde, who humors her MoMMa, and shares her home with DemonKidz and doesn't mind the ammonia smell of latex all over the kitchen
  • J…who signed my guestbook…
  • ASH, who tortures me every working day, and Stacy who gives me Cheezits and gets busted with me for non-working during working hours…
  • Anne Rice, who, from her own experiences, has given me the inspiration to DO IT, and also from her words in her wonderful writings, has made my imagination blossom; Stephen King who has scared me witless so many times, yet keeps me asking for more and more…and Chuck Palahniuk for making me realize we all have a bit of Tyler in us…more than we would like to think, sometimes…
